Intense battles await in the Clio Cup at Slovakia Ring

The Clio Cup series will continue this weekend, 8-9 June, with the third round at the Slovakia Ring. The long and fast circuit will welcome more than 20 cars, and a close battle for the win is expected, as in previous rounds.

The situation at the top of the drivers‘ standings is very tight. Three fast contenders and favorites for the wins are within a small points margin. Tomáš Pekař from Carpek Racing leads the championship with 86 points. Only two points behind him is his teammate David Dziwok, who dominated the last two races at the Red Bull Ring and moved up to second place in front of Bartek Mirecki from BM Racing, who has collected 75 points so far. Although it was expected that Pekař and Mirecki would fight for the title after their battles at Balaton Park, Dziwok emerged from the field at the Red Bull Ring. Now the question is, whom will the Slovakia Ring suit better?

Or will there be another driver with better pace than the leading trio? Let’s see this weekend. Nik Štefančič and Ivan Pulić are two drivers who have shown speed for the top 3 positions, but only Štefančič has managed to bring home a podium finish so far.

Julian Smiechovski and Filip Kunčer have also scored multiple points. So far, 15 drivers have finished in the points, but the competition is tough throughout the whole field, and it’s not easy to get into the top 10. Especially since any slight mistake can mean that the driver will lose a lot of positions.

So far, 23 drivers are on the starting list for the Slovakia round, including four Clio IV cars.

The first race is planned for 10:35 on Saturday, and the second will be at 16:25 on Sunday.
