The final Clio Cup race at Salzburgring proved to be a major success for JTS Racing, with its drivers Julian Smiechowski and Dawid Babraj securing a one-two finish. The race ended behind the safety car, with Bartlomiej Mirecki completing the podium in third place.
Dawid Babraj started from pole position alongside Julian Smiechowski, while Nico Wuest and Paweł Wysmyk lined up on the second row. Jörg Sodnik and Petar Miloradovič occupied the third row, followed by Filip Dziwok and Oskar Marszałkowski. Matic Preša and Rafał Paprota started from the fifth row, while Tomáš Pekař and Saturday’s winner Bartlomiej Mirecki completed the top twelve on the grid.
The JTS Racing team-mates made an excellent start. Although Babraj started from pole, Smiechowski reacted slightly better when the lights went out and moved into the lead through the opening chicane. The entire field negotiated the first corners cleanly without any incidents.
Smiechowski and Babraj immediately opened a small gap over the chasing pack, led by Wysmyk, Wuest, Sodnik and the rest of the field.
The intense battles behind the leading pair provided the perfect opportunity for the JTS Racing duo to escape at the front. By the fourth lap, they had built an advantage of more than three seconds.
Meanwhile, Bartlomiej Mirecki was making impressive progress through the field. Starting from twelve on the grid, he climbed to third place by lap five and began chasing the leading duo, with Sodnik closely following him. Pekař also managed to break away from the midfield battle and started closing on the cars ahead while running in fifth position.
With seven minutes remaining, Matic Preša became stranded in the gravel trap, forcing the deployment of the safety car and erasing the leaders‘ advantage.
The race ultimately finished behind the safety car, allowing Julian Smiechowski to secure his second victory of the season. Team-mate Dawid Babraj finished second, while Bartlomiej Mirecki completed the podium in third place.
Jörg Sodnik took fourth ahead of Tomáš Pekař in fifth. Petar Miloradovič crossed the finish line in sixth, followed by Oskar Marszałkowski in seventh. Rafał Paprota finished eighth, Paweł Wysmyk ninth, and Miha Primožič rounded out the top ten.
