The opening race of the Twingo Cup series featuring F4 CEZ Academy drivers at Salzburgring delivered another spectacular 18 cars contest, with countless overtaking manoeuvres from start to finish. In the end, Martin Toth emerged victorious after starting from pole position and being in the right place at the right time on the final lap to secure the win.
Martin Toth lined up on pole position alongside Matyáš Kučera, with Giacomo Pegazzano and Martin Varga occupying the second row. Lukáš Bílek and David Toth started from the third row.
The start was remarkably clean, with the entire field making its way through the opening chicane without incident. Toth held onto the lead, although Kučera remained close behind and immediately began looking for an opportunity to challenge for first place. He attempted a move around the outside of the long right hander at the back of the circuit, but Toth successfully defended his position.
Pegazzano soon joined the battle, and on the following lap the trio even ran three wide through the same corner. Once again, however, Toth emerged from the fight still leading the race.
Martin Toth and Matyáš Kučera managed to pull clear of the chasing pack and began their own private battle for victory, with a comfortable gap behind them.
Their advantage was short-lived, however, as the safety car was deployed after Noah Bognanni came to a halt beside the circuit.
Racing resumed with seven minutes remaining, and the fight for victory soon involved several drivers. Lukáš Houlík took the lead on the lap following the restart, but Kučera was back in front one lap later as positions continued to change at almost every corner in a race defined by battles throughout the field.
Everything came down to the long right hander on the final lap. Martin Toth emerged from the corner in the strongest position and sprinted to the chequered flag to claim victory.
Matyáš Kučera finished second, with Martin Varga completing the podium in third place. Lukáš Bílek crossed the line fourth ahead of Oliver Šteiner in fifth. Lukáš Houlík took sixth, Thomas Schmid finished seventh, Giacomo Pegazzano was eighth, David Toth ninth, and Tomáš Kunc completed the top ten.
