The third round of the Clio Cup got underway with Saturday’s qualifying session at the Salzburgring, where Bartłomiej Mirecki from BM Racing dominated the fight for pole position for today’s race.
Mirecki set the fastest lap of the session with a time of 1:36.381, a benchmark none of his rivals could match. Second-placed Tomáš Pekař was 0.231 seconds slower, while narrowly edging out Alan Kluza, who secured third place on the grid.
Kluza will share the second row with his BM Racing teammate Rafał Paprota, meaning BM Racing locked out three of the top four positions on the starting grid.
The fifth-fastest time was recorded by Filip Dziwok from Carpek Racing. Alongside him on the third row will be Petar Miloradović from the ASK Time Team.
Seventh in qualifying was the winner of the previous race, Julian Śmiechowski from JTS Racing. He finished just 0.054 seconds ahead of Matic Preša from BA Motorsport, who claimed eighth place.
The fifth row of the grid will be occupied by Jorg Sodnik from BA Motorsport and Dawid Babraj from JTS Racing.
With Mirecki showing impressive pace throughout the session and BM Racing placing three cars inside the top four, the team heads into the race as the clear favourite. However, with several experienced contenders lining up behind them, the battle for victory at the Salzburgring remains wide open.
