Bartłomiej Mirecki enjoys a perfect weekend at Poznań, wins second race too

The third round of the Clio Cup took place at Poznań and Bartłomiej Mirecki was by far the best among the field of over 20 cars. His knowledge of the circuit gave him such an advantage that he didn’t face any serious battles throughout the weekend — except at the starts.

Janík Motorsport teammates Oskar Marszałkowski and Julian Śmiechowski started from the front row, with Tomáš Pekař and yesterday’s winner Bartłomiej Mirecki lining up on the second row. Behind them were Alexander Spetz and Matic Preša.

Mirecki was immediately on a mission, quickly moving up behind Śmiechowski and taking the lead on the second lap. Marszałkowski ran in third, with Spetz moving up to fourth, while Pekař lost a few positions and dropped to fifth.

Once in front, Mirecki set the fastest lap and, just like the day before, began pulling away from his rivals. However, Pekař was even quicker than the leader, made a successful move on Spetz, and moved into fourth, just behind Marszałkowski — who became his next target by lap six.

Meanwhile, Spetz came under pressure from Preša and eventually lost fifth place. But he wasn’t willing to give it up without a fight, and the two of them put on a great show, just like the day before.

A similar battle unfolded between Pekař and Śmiechowski for second place. However, the final outcome was heavily influenced by the weather, as the overcast skies began to release rain, making the track increasingly slippery. With conditions deteriorating, the race was red-flagged with four minutes remaining.

Mirecki was declared the winner of the second race on home soil, ahead of fellow Polish driver Śmiechowski. Pekař was classified third, Preša finished fourth and Spetz completed the top five. Sixth place went to Nikodem Sobczyk, while the Wüest family duo Nico and Reto finished seventh and eighth. Filip Bartoš earned points for ninth place and Filip Dziwok completed the top ten.
