The Clio Cup weekend at Tor Poznań began today with qualifying sessions, and among the fastest were local drivers who know the circuit very well. Bartłomiej Mirecki won the session by a mere 0.020 seconds.
Mirecki held onto first place from his very first timed lap and continued improving throughout the entire 20-minute session. It’s no surprise that local drivers dominated, with Julian Śmiechowski finishing just 0.020 seconds behind.
The championship leader Tomáš Pekař couldn’t keep up with Mirecki’s pace and eventually dropped from third to fourth in the final moments of qualifying, as Oskar Marszałkowski moved up to third.
Fifth fastest was Matic Preša, and starting next to him in tomorrow’s race will be Nikodem Sobczyk. Seventh and eighth were Alexander Spetz and Nico Wüst. The top ten was rounded out by Filip Dziwok and Katarzyna Terlikowska. That means six of the top ten drivers are from Poland, clearly making good use of their experience on home soil.
Race 1 starts tomorrow at 9:20.
