Clio Cup heads to Poland for round three of the spectacle racing

The TOR Poznań circuit will host the Clio Cup this weekend, and as usual, we can expect another thrilling round of racing from these cup cars, which have been delivering great entertainment all season. But the main question remains: can anyone beat Tomáš Pekař?

Twenty-one drivers are entered for the event in Poznań, all aiming for the best possible results. The first two rounds at the Red Bull Ring and Slovakia Ring showed that Tomáš Pekař, driving for his own team Carpek Racing, currently holds the upper hand. If everything goes smoothly for him, he’ll be hard to beat. That doesn’t mean he drives away from the field right after the start, he’s always under pressure. At Slovakia Ring, for example, he was closely chased by Bartłomiej Mirecki or Julian Smiechowski. But Pekař’s experience gives him the edge when it comes to defending his position successfully.

Mirecki and Smiechowski will be the local favorites at Poznań. Mirecki, from BM Racing, is a fast and hard driver who’s always near the front and already has one win this season. Smiechowski, now in his second year with Janík Motorsport, has finished on the podium in every race so far this year. So what better place to take a win than at home?

Another local talent is Nikodem Sobczyk, who has already scored a top-three finish this year and is always part of the fight for top positions. Sweden’s Alexander Spetz is another podium finisher in 2025, he took third place in the last race at Slovakia Ring and is now looking for another trophy in the upcoming rounds.

Looking at the championship standings, Pekař leads Smiechowski by 20 points, but that doesn’t tell the full story. The racing has been extremely close, and thanks to the solid build and equal performance of the Clio Cup cars, the battles are fierce, with door-to-door action all the way through the 25-minute sprints.

Qualifying at Poznań starts on Friday at 13:20. The sprint races will take place on Saturday at 9:20 and Sunday at 12:20 — so get ready for more thrilling action!
