The second round of the Clio Cup kicked off on Saturday with a dominant performance by Tomáš Pekař and Bartlomiej Mirecki. The two drivers broke away from the rest of the field and essentially created their own race at the front. Although Mirecki briefly took the lead, it was Pekař who controlled most of the race and ultimately crossed the finish line first.
Tomáš Pekař started from pole position alongside his Carpek Racing teammate Filip Dziwok. Behind them on the grid were Oskar Marszalkowski from Janík Motorsport and Bartlomiej Mirecki from BM Racing.
Pekař had an excellent start, unlike Dziwok, who lost two positions before reaching the first corner. Mirecki quickly moved up to second place behind Pekař, overtaking Marszalkowski.
At the end of the opening lap, Mirecki was right on Pekař’s bumper. A short distance behind them in third was Marszalkowski, followed by his teammate Julian Smiechowski, then Dziwok and Nikodem Sobczyk.
On the third lap, Mirecki made a move and outbraked Pekař to briefly take the lead. But Pekař responded immediately and reclaimed first place on the following lap.
Meanwhile, Sobczyk and Dziwok were locked in a fierce battle for fifth, which allowed the drivers behind them to close in. In the final stage of the race, Sobczyk managed to pull away, while Dziwok had to defend sixth position from Matic Preša, Miha Primožič and Filip Bartoš.
At the front, the order remained unchanged after Pekař regained the lead. Mirecki couldn’t find another way to pass the championship leader and had to settle for second, just 0.688 seconds behind the winner.
More than ten seconds back, a battle unfolded between Janík Motorsport teammates Marszalkowski and Śmiechowski. Marszalkowski held third for most of the race, but Smiechowski made a successful move on the final lap to snatch the final podium spot. Sobczyk finished fifth, followed by Dziwok in sixth, Primožič seventh, top eighth was rounded by Bartoš.
