In just five weeks, the next season of the Clio Cup will kick off at the famous Red Bull Ring, and the entry list is looking more than promising, with reigning champion Tomáš Pekař and his closest competitor, Bartek Mirecki, confirmed to take part.
So far, 19 drivers have signed up with Clio V Cup cars, ready to compete in the six-round 2025 season. The championship will begin at the Red Bull Ring on April 14, followed by rounds at Slovakia Ring, Poznań, Most, and Brno, before concluding at Balaton Park at the end of September.
Defending champion Tomáš Pekař, a multiple-time title winner, will carry the number one on his orange Clio. He will race for his own team, Carpek Service, which is also fielding three additional cars for last year’s title contender David Dziwok, as well as Filip Bartoš and female driver Katarzyna Terlikowska.
Bartłomiej Mirecki will return with his BM Racing team, determined to challenge Pekař for the championship. Together, Pekař and Mirecki won 8 out of 12 races last year.
However, as the Clio Cup boasts a highly competitive grid, many other drivers are also in contention for victories. The fast and talented Nikodem Sobczyk, who secured two podium finishes last season has his sights set on the 2025 victory. Polish driver Julian Śmiechowski will once again represent the Czech team Orlen Janík Motorsport and is also eager to claim his first Clio Cup victory.
Lema Racing will prepare four cars for Luka Glazer, Miha Primožič, Ivan Gustin and Ivan Pulić. Fly with Kolman will field three cars for Valter Nežić, Vladimir Jaklin, and Tomislav Jaklin. Wuest Motorsport will run two cars for Nico and Reto Wuest.
From Hungary, PLTS Racing will enter Peter Palotas, while JD Racing will field Aleks Sówka. Czech team JMT Racing will make its Clio Cup debut with young driver Ivan Prantner.
Poland will have the largest representation on the grid with six drivers, while the rest of the field will include competitors from the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, and Switzerland.
The 2025 season looks as promising as ever. Since all Clio Cup cars are identical, the key to success will come down to driver skill and team experience, making for another thrilling championship battle.
