I achieved my main goal, says David Dziwok after the season

Young driver David Dziwok entered this season’s Clio Cup with the experienced Carpek Racing team and was fighting for victories from the very start. But as he says, it was a really tough season.

“While it may not have been the most successful in terms of results, I definitely achieved the main goal I came here for, which was gaining experience in close, wheel-to-wheel racing,” says Dziwok, who competed for podium spots and victories right from the start and achieved two wins in the second round at the Red Bull Ring.

“I’m happy with my overall performance, even though the final results weren’t exactly what I hoped for. I feel like I could have fought for the championship until the end, but setbacks like penalties and tyre issues (I had a blowout during one of the races) made it more difficult to reach that goal,” commented Dziwok, sharing his impressions of the season.

“From the start, I aimed to compete for top positions, so I wasn’t surprised to qualify well. I had been training all winter for that one-lap pace, which was something I had struggled with before.”

At least five drivers were competing for the win in every race, sometimes more. Being the first to see the chequered flag was more difficult than ever, and the drivers had a lot to fight for.

“The competition was tough, and there was a lot of aggression on the track. But despite a few dented fenders, I had a great time, and I’m thankful to my competitors for making this season exciting. One race that really stuck with me was in Slovakia. I started from 9th place, and in the end, I missed the win by just 0.007 seconds,” recalls Dziwok, whose weakness, as he admits, was his starts: “My biggest issue this season was race starts. I was losing a lot of positions due to tyre spinning, which also wore down my tyres and affected the rest of the race.”

So what are the plans for the young driver from Poland next year? “As for next season, I’m not sure where I’ll be racing yet. I’m still looking for opportunities and the budget that will allow me to compete.”
