The battle for Clio Cup victory continued on Sunday at Slovakia Ring, and once again, the spectators witnessed an exciting race in this highly competitive series. Bartek Mirecki claimed victory after starting from third place.
The start was clean, but just a few seconds later, Nico Wuest spun in front of the grandstands after contact with another car. His car made a full 360-degree spin, but miraculously, Nico continued in the race without hitting anything or being hit by anyone.
Bartek Mirecki took the lead, with Nik Štefančič second and Julian Smiechowski third. However, the three drivers battled fiercely for every inch of the track. Smiechowski made contact and spun off, forcing him to pit and rejoin the race in last place.
Meanwhile, the fight for the win continued at the front, with Štefančič taking the lead but still under pressure from Mirecki, Pekař, Nikodém Sobczyk, and David Dziwok. The leading top five drivers were pulling away from sixth-placed Simon Sikhart, who was the highest-placed Slovakian driver.
Mirecki didn’t wait long to retake the lead. He kept a close eye on his opponents in the rear-view mirror and soon saw Pekař’s orange Clio right behind him. Mirecki drove defensively but also fast enough to create a gap from the others, except for Pekař. The two were separated by just a second, but Pekař couldn’t find a way past the Polish driver. Bartek Mirecki then went on to win his second race of the season.
Nik Štefančič finished third after starting from pole position, followed by David Dziwok and Nikodém Sobczyk. Filip Kunčer managed to catch up with the leading drivers, but he didn’t have enough time to mount a challenge for a position. Simon Sikhart finished the race in seventh place.
Clio Cup Trophy class was won by Marko Kazarka, in front of Valter Nežič and Tomas Kazarka
