Tomáš Pekař set the fastest time in Friday’s qualifying session for the fifth round of the Clio Cup at the Slovakia Ring, beating championship leader Bartlomiej Mirecki to pole position.
Pekař, who sits second in the championship standings, was the only driver to lap in under two minutes and 27 seconds. His best time of 2:26.961 proved out of Mirecki’s reach, with the championship leader finishing 0.111 seconds adrift. Pekař and Mirecki will therefore share the front row of the grid.
More than half a second further back was Filip Dziwok, who edged Luca Franca by just 0.083 seconds to secure third place. Alan Kluza and Rafal Paprota will line up on the third row, while Julian Smiechowski, third in the championship standings, will start from the fourth row alongside Pawel Wysmyk.
Miha Primočiž and Matic Preša rounded out the top 10 in the 26-car field.
