Thomas Schmid unbeatable at Autodrom Most

Saturday’s qualifying session of third round of the Twingo Cup began on a wet Autodrom Most track, with light but persistent rain falling throughout and producing a rather extraordinary result. The gaps between the F4 CEZ Academy drivers on the timesheet were unusually large for the Twingo Cup. Thomas Schmid was the fastest, finishing 2.311 seconds ahead of Matyáš Kučera. Czech Formula 1 broadcaster Pavel Fabry took third place, 4.3 seconds off the pole position time.

Schmid proved to be the driver to beat once again in Sunday’s races. He made the best start in Race 1 and reached the first chicane in the lead. While the rest of the field battled behind him, he managed to open a gap within the first few corners and continued to extend it steadily. Meanwhile, Giacomo Pegazzano and Matyáš Kučera fought for second place, losing valuable time to Schmid in the process.

Pegazzano eventually settled into second place and pulled away from his rivals. Behind him, Kučera, Oliver Šteiner and Lukáš Houlík battled for the final podium position, which Houlík ultimately secured.

Schmid also won the second race, although this time he came under intense pressure from Pegazzano, who crossed the finish line just 0.291 seconds behind him. The pair finished an unusual half a minute ahead of the rest of the field, largely because of an intense battle for positions from third to sixth. David Toth emerged on top to finish third, just ahead of Šteiner, Martin Toth and Lukáš Houlík.
