The 2025 Clio Cup Bohemia season came to a dramatic conclusion at Hungary’s Balaton Park, where the championship fight between long-time rivals Tomáš Pekař and Bartłomiej Mirecki was finally decided. With more than 20 cars on the grid, fans were promised an exciting finale, and they got exactly that. Mirecki won both races, but Pekař did enough with podium finishes to secure another championship crown.
From the opening round of the season, it was clear that these two would be the drivers to beat. Mirecki collected a total of seven wins, while Pekař claimed four, with only Julian Smiechowski managing to interrupt their dominance when he took victory in Brno a few weeks earlier.
Heading into the final round, Pekař held a 28-point advantage over Mirecki, giving him a degree of breathing room. Qualifying on Saturday underlined his intent, he set the fastest lap to claim pole position and earn three points over Mirecki´s two in second place. Smiechowski was third, meaning the top three in the standings also occupied the first three spots on the grid. Fourth and fifth went to Alxander Spetz and Nikodem Sobczyk.
Race 1 delivered drama right from the start. Pekař launched from pole into the lead, but Mirecki dived past him in the opening corners to seize the lead. Before the end of the lap, Smiechowski also found a way through, pushing Pekař back to third.
What followed was a race-long battle where the running order was never truly settled. While Mirecki led, both Smiechowski and Pekař were glued to his rear bumper, constantly threatening to attack. In the end, Mirecki held on to win ahead of Smiechowski and Pekař. The result cut Pekař’s advantage to 20 points and kept the title fight alive. For the Czech driver, however, the equation was simple: a seventh-place finish in Race 2 would be enough to clinch the championship.
Sunday’s finale began at full throttle. From second on the grid, Pekař immediately grabbed the lead, while Mirecki, starting fourth, first had to deal with Smiechowski and Nico Wuest. The Pole wasted no time moving forward and soon began to put pressure on his championship rival.
Once again, the race boiled down to a three-way showdown between Pekař, Mirecki and Smiechowski. For several laps the trio circulated nose-to-tail, separated by no more than half a second, producing another thrilling spectacle for the fans.
With eight minutes remaining, Nico Wuest crashed into barriers, triggering a safety car and then a red flag. After a brief pause, the race resumed with only three minutes on the clock. Pekař held the lead at the restart, but Mirecki made his move down the back straight and snatched first place. Smiechowski tried to follow through, but slight contact with Pekař dropped him back to fourth. Pekař finished second behind Mirecki, with Oskar Marszałkowski completing the podium in third.
The championship picture was clear: the title once again belonged to Tomáš Pekař. Mirecki may have dominated the Balaton weekend with two victories and seven wins across the season, but it wasn’t enough to overturn Pekař’s consistent points advantage.
