Triumph for Bartłomiej Mirecki after contact-filled battle with Pekař

It was another spectacular fight between the title contenders in the Clio Cup championship. Bartłomiej Mirecki had a hard-fought battle with Tomáš Pekař and the duo was soon joined by Julian Śmiechowski. Once again, the Clio Cup delivered thrilling racing action.

Mirecki and Pekař started from the front row, with Alexander Spetz and Oskar Marszałkowski behind them on the second row. Julian Śmiechowski and Reto Wüest started from the third row. Mirecki got off to a great start, as did Spetz, who attempted to overtake Pekař into the first chicane. However, Pekař had better acceleration out of the corner and held on to second place.

Mirecki and Pekař immediately pulled away from the rest of the field, creating a race of their own. Meanwhile, Spetz lost a position to Śmiechowski, who also managed to build a gap to the drivers behind. The battle for fourth place, featuring Spetz, Marszałkowski, Nico Wüest, Reto Wüest, and Nikodem Sobczyk, was very close and action-packed.

Drama was also unfolding at the front. Pekař was constantly looking for a way past Mirecki, who defended his position. Eventually, Pekař found a gap in the final corner and pulled alongside Mirecki in a drag race to the first chicane, where he took the lead for the first time in the race.

However, Pekař lost the lead just a few minutes later as Mirecki launched a successful counterattack to retake first place. Their battle gave an opportunity to Śmiechowski, who was running just behind them.

When contact occurred between Mirecki and Pekař on the straight later in the race, Śmiechowski took advantage and moved up to second, with Pekař dropping to third. But the Czech driver wasn’t finished, he passed Śmiechowski and on the final lap was once again in Mirecki’s mirrors. He launched one last attack in the final corner, but the Polish driver held firm and crossed the line first, securing his third consecutive win and first victory of the weekend at Autodrom Most.

Pekař finished just 0.112 seconds behind, with Śmiechowski another two seconds back. The fight for fourth through tenth was also incredibly close: Oskar Marszałkowski finished fourth, Nikodem Sobczyk fifth, Nico Wüest sixth, Matic Preša seventh, Alexander Spetz eighth, Reto Wüest ninth and Filip Dziwok completed the top ten.
