As the Clio Cup enters the second half of the 2025 season, we’ve only seen two different winners across the six races so far, but that hasn’t stopped the championship battle from heating up. The next stop on the calendar is this weekend’s Racing Journal Speed Fest at Autodrom Most.
The Clio Cup has a reputation for being a tightly contested series. But when the most experienced driver on the grid is Tomáš Pekař, the real question is whether someone else can match his pace. Luckily for spectators, this season has delivered spectacle racing and the current standings promise an exciting fight for the title.
Pekař currently leads the standings by 20 points over Bartłomiej Mirecki and Julian Smiechowski, who are tied with 102 points each. Pekař and Mirecki traded paint in some intense battles at the Red Bull Ring, with both drivers taking home a winner’s trophy. At the Slovakia Ring, the second round of the season, Pekař dominated, refusing to give up the top step of the podium. Mirecki challenged him hard but ultimately couldn’t make winnig pass.
Then the Clio Cup moved to Poznań, where the tables turned. The home heroes put on a masterclass – Mirecki, Smiechowski and Oskar Marszałkowski locked out the top three spots on the grid, as Mirecki delivered a flawless performance and won both races convincingly.
Now the series heads to Autodrom Most, where home advantage swings back in favor of Pekař. But one thing could shake things up, the tricky first chicane after the start, which has caught out even the strongest contenders in the past.
Still, Pekař, Mirecki, Smiechowski, and Marszałkowski aren’t the only names to watch. Currently fourth in the standings, Nikodem Sobczyk has already stood on the podium. Sweden’s Alexander Spetz broke into the top three at the Slovakia Ring, and the ever-quick Marszałkowski is still hunting for his first podium finish.
More than 20 drivers are entered for the Most round, setting the stage for another action-packed weekend of close battles, whether for podiums or hard-fought points positions. With such a deep and competitive field, the Clio Cup continues to offer top-tier racing entertainment.
