Very different weather greeted the Twingo Cup drivers on Sunday at the Slovakia Ring, compared to the sunny conditions on Saturday. Race 2 began behind the safety car due to heavy rain, which soaked the track and created challenging conditions—particularly for drivers experiencing their first-ever wet race. Nik Štefančič showcased his wet-weather skills and claimed another victory at Slovakia Ring.
Giovanni Grasso and Luka Grm started from the front row, with Stefan Treneski and Rok Cerar lining up behind them. The third row featured Marko Blaževski and Nik Štefančič, while local drivers Oliver Gmuca and Oliver Šteiner made up row four, followed by the rest of the field.
Because of the rain, the race was neutralized at the start and began behind the safety car, which led the 20-car field through the opening minutes. With 13 minutes remaining, the safety car pulled into the pits and the race was on.
All drivers navigated the first corner safely, with windshield wipers working overtime to keep visibility. In some cases, the field went three-wide through corners, showcasing daring moves despite the treacherous conditions.
Štefančič quickly took control of the race, with Treneski in second. However, on the second lap, Martin Toth overtook Treneski, with Grm closely following. As Treneski and Toth battled for position, both went wide, without making contact, in the wet conditions. Treneski nearly lost control of his car, but managed to recover in eighth, while Toth found himself beached in the gravel trap and was forced to retire.
The safety car was deployed again, with the order as follows: Štefančič, Grm, Blaževski, Cerar, Grasso, Kovačič, Šteiner, Treneski, Sovička, and Gmuca rounding out the top ten.
The race resumed for one final lap. Štefančič maintained his lead comfortably and crossed the line more than a second ahead of second-place Grm. Behind them, Blaževski held onto third under pressure from a tightly packed group of cars fighting for every position in the last moments of the race.
Cerar finished fourth, just ahead of Treneski, who was the most successful driver from the F4 CEZ Academy program at the Slovakia Ring and has now earned the opportunity to test a Formula 4 car.
Nikola Jančič finished sixth, Grasso seventh, with another F4 CEZ Junior Gmuca in eighth. Flerin took ninth, and Troy Sovička rounded out the top ten.
