Stefan Treneski wins pole position by 0,047s in Twingo Cup

Stefan Treneski from North Macedonia was the fastest driver in Twingo Cup qualifying ahead of the race weekend at the Slovakia Ring. The F4 CEZ Academy member set the best time, beating fellow countryman Marko Blazevski by just 0.047 seconds.

Friday afternoon’s qualifying session at the Slovakia Ring featured a tight duel between Treneski and Blazevski, as both drivers were significantly quicker than the rest of the field. Third-place qualifier Nik Štefančič was 0.618 seconds behind.

However, the Twingo car is heavily influenced by slipstreaming, especially important on the long straights of the Slovakia Ring, so the qualifying gaps don’t necessarily guarantee an easy race for the front runners. There’s still a chance for nearly everyone in Saturday’s race.

Fourth place in qualifying went to the experienced Rok Cerar, with newcomer Troy Sovička in fifth and Nikola Jančić in sixth.

Exactly 20 cars took part in qualifying. The top performer from the F4 CEZ Academy project, which will award a Formula 4 test drive at Brno in September to its best driver, was Treneski. Other F4 CEZ Academy members, Oliver Gmuca and Oliver Šteiner, qualified ninth and tenth, respectively.
