Polish driver Julian Śmiechowski has completed two race weekends in the competitive Clio Cup series. The young driver from the Orlen Janík Motorsport team is making improvements of his performance with each race.
Śmiechowski made his Clio Cup debut at Balaton Park, finishing seventh in both races and earning 12 points. With a field of over 20 cars, a top-ten finish was satisfying for Śmiechowski. However, he is motivated to improve in every race, as demonstrated in the second event of the season at Red Bull Ring, which featured 25 Clio cars.
„In cup racing, there’s always something happening. You have to be constantly alert because someone is always attacking, and you also want to move forward,“ commented Śmiechowski on his Clio Cup racing experience.
At Red Bull Ring, Śmiechowski finished sixth in both races. However, the race results don’t fully reflect his performance during the actual race.
„In the second race, I was briefly in the fight for the podium, but then the tires started to wear out, and I had to focus on defending the best possible position,“ said the Polish racer. He collected another 16 points and now sits sixth in the drivers‘ standings, looking forward to further improvement in the third round of the Clio Cup at Slovakia Ring.
